On The Trail

Citizen Kate weighs in with the help of Senator Obama’s political strategist David Axelrod on why Barack Obama didn’t win in New Hampshire.

So I went to my first primary rally in New Hampshire for Barack. It was quite an experience. People wrapped around the block waiting at the local High School in Concord, NH to hear the Barack Star talk. The place was packed. I felt positive it had something to do with my butterhead contribution in Iowa. His popularity and polls have obviously been surging from my creation. Well, not my total creation. Duffy did sculpting. I bought the butter.

I had a moment to meet up with David Axelrod at the rally, where he revealed the secret of Obama’s Iowa success to me.

At the end of the day, Barack lost by 3% to Hillary Clinton. He was clearly lacking the Butter Head mojo. Even though he polled way ahead of Hillary, she still got the majority of the female vote. Either they really like women in New Hampshire or they don’t listen to Oprah.

Note to self: Polls don’t always equal victory in politics. So why do we care so much about them?
