Notes to Self
Notes to Self
I read recently that a toy mass produced in China for a company in Australia (Aqua Dots) had the effects of the date rape drug on children. Of course, the children ate the toy when they shouldn’t have, but still with all these issues around toy safety. And considering all the toys and products produced in China, shouldn’t we consider producing them in the United States? Seriously. We have more environmental standards and people need jobs here. I need a job.
It just seems like so many of the shoes I buy are created in other countries. I will say that I stay away from Chinese Laundry shoes. They tend to hurt my feet. Shoes made in Spain, Italy and Portugal are great. But does anyone make anything in the USA anymore? Even my Ford was “Built Ford Tough” in Mexico. Does that mean someone lost another job here?
I also heard that even if a label says “Made in the USA” that could just mean that the “label” was made in the USA, and a manufacturer in China sewed it on per the request of an American company. Is that possible? Can companies just lie to us like that? It seems like someone needs to be made accountable. It’s not right to lie to the public. We shouldn’t have to rely on Google and Wikipedia for the facts.
We need a president that’s going to stop the lies and encourage more production here in the US. I’m proud to wear American. But is my American really Chinese?
Note to self: Buy American. American Apparel, Levi’s, and Juicy Couture. Made in the Glamorous USA.
