Notes to Self

There are so many choices for this upcoming Presidential Primary that I decided it’s important to make a list and write out my thoughts on each candidate.

I’m starting with the female in the bunch, Hillary Clinton. Or should I just say “Hillary” like all of her signs. It’s like she’s become a one-name political pop star -- Hillary. Perhaps she took some tips from Madonna. I wish I could go by one name. But just “Kate” doesn’t seem as cool. Hillary, like Madonna, acts super cool. Maybe too cool.

What I Like

When I saw her speak in person at the San Diego Democratic Convention, it was a way different Hillary from the one I’d seen on TV. She was poised yet personal. She spoke with a powerful, raspy voice and the heart of a woman, as she remembered growing up in Illinois and the challenges of the times. I was genuinely moved by her, which I wasn’t expecting. I always thought she was more Angelina Jolie tough and less Jennifer Aniston sweet. I wish more people could see Hillary in person to experience her softer side. It made me realize that the warmth and finesse of a woman may be exactly what this government needs right now.

Her Challenge

I heard recently that her campaign team was supposedly busted for planting questions with college students at a recent speaking event. Not sure if it’s true. But it made me remember the Hillary Press Conference where she seemed to only call on her friends. I tried to break my presidential cherry, but instead I remained a press corps virgin. Maybe one day she’ll ask me to plant a question and we can be friends. Hillary style.

Note to self: Hillary leads in the polls, but lacks in friends. Presidential candidates should make friends with everyone, big and small.

How To Get My Vote

Hillary focuses so much on going top down. She really needs to put her bottom up more, and talk to the regular people, like Citizen Kate. We’ve had too many out of touch presidents. I want someone I can talk to, who listens. The questions that run through my mind: Is she great beyond the yin? Will Bill call himself the “First Male First Lady” or the “First Mate”? Does she ever wear skirts? What’s her fave perfume -- a florally, girly Marc Jacobs daisy, a spicy, sexy Betsey Johnson scent, or an androgynous CK1? Does she spend more time smoking cigars with the boys or getting manicures with the girls?

Regardless, it would be cool to see a lady in the White House. It’s an opportunity to show the world that women are able to make key decisions, keep the world at peace, and look hot while doing it. She could be a total trend setter, like Paris Hilton. Only stronger and with less offensive videos.

So kudos to Hillary for being the first lady to run for such an important position. Maybe she’ll ask a fashionable friend named Kate to be her running mate! She can wear the pants. I’ll gladly wear the skirts. And platforms.
